It’s Friday and the #AOTH2022 weekend begins here!

Grab your map from participating venues and get on the trail! Don’t forget to get stamped!

Our Friday round-up takes us to one of Newports’s lesser known artworks in the Civic Centre – a Grade II* Listed building in the Art Deco style. The base of the completed clock tower contains a collection of 12 murals by the German artist Hans Feibusch, commissioned in the 1960s and completed in 1964. They depict the history of the City from Celtic times to the building of the George Street Bridge over the River Usk. Reception is manned between 8.30 – 5.00pm.

Barnabas House presents an amazing group show and there are individual artists showing in windows around Stow Hill and the city centre. Re-make Newport will have their wares on show, with Newport Credit Union hosting work by Andrew Phillips. Keep your eyes open to catch Alix Edwards (Diverse Vinyl), Kate Mercer (Camera Centre UK) with Lucilla Jones and Meuirg Watkins sharing a window at That Cafe. Take a wander towards  Friar’s Walk and drop in on  Gallery 57 – opening this weekend – and No Comply Newport – our newest Skatepark – sharing artwork, and workshops on Sunday. *

Finish the day at  The Riverfront’s Comedy Shed (8pm, contact Newport Live for tickets) for a laugh and a giggle – save some energy for Saturday & Sunday!

* Go to venue & events pages for opening times, bookings and much more.

Arts on the Hill Newport is a weekend of art and creativity on the west side
of Newport featuring open houses, events and exhibitions. Artists can open
their homes to share their work or work with partner venues and
organisations to show in other places. There’s room for all art forms with
events over the weekend to be included on a printed trail map that will be
available from partner venues from mid November each year.
